Notes: The goal of this experiment is just to kickstart me designing again. I just want to challenge myself to do some new designs.

Challenge:

Recreate a similar design to a random Pinterest post.

I gave myself a challenge just to get the creative juices flowing again. After so many years of saving inspo photos on Pinterest saying I would try to recreate them at some point, I decided to finally do it. I scrolled and scrolled with my eyes closed until I decided to stop and when I opened my eyes I was greeted with this tourism based home page design for traveling to Portugal.

The goal of this challenge was to create a design similar to the inspo photo, but not an exact recreation. So I decided to base my design off another page listed in the top navBar for the original inspo photo and design mine for travel to Morocco.

I focused on utilizing colors and design elements reminiscent of the Moroccan landscape and vibrant streets. I blended the landscape into the page to help the sections flow more seamlessly, similarly to how the original design did by blending the sloping desert landscape into a rocky watercolor. I then overlayed traditional Moroccan shapes, tile pattern, and hanging light vector shapes reminiscent of the Moroccan markets. I also included an SVG map of the country just like the original and included each region to visit as well.

With the time crunch, this was a fun little challenge. However, in today's fast paced world, designs like this can unfortunately be accomplished by AI in a quarter of the time. I think a more worthwhile challenge for the next installment would be to recreate this exact same challenge, but instead focus on trying to cut down the time and utilize an AI design system to build out the design so I can spend more time making the design itself more accessible and eye catching for future clients.
